Android Pie for Samsung smartphones is scheduled for launch in 2019. Samsung France would have reported this in the Members app.
Samsung Android Pie
Android 9.0 Pie was officially released in August and now the Pixels, the Essential PH-1, the OnePlus 6 and the Nokia 7 Plus have already received this update. The new Sony Xperia XZ3 is even the first device that comes with Android 9.0 Pie. The XZ3 is already in stores. At Samsung, they need more time to release Android Pie for their smartphones. This is evident from a list of improvements for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 that surfaced in the French Samsung Members app. These improvements are part of the Android 9.0 pie update and should improve the user experience.
Improvements Samsung apps
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 according to these improvements in Android 9.0 can read the name and number of an incoming call. There are also improvements in the Gallery app and the camera app. For example, finding videos is made easier in the first and the second shows a ‘preview’ of photos taken instead of the latest image in the Gallery app.
The Voice Recorder app could immediately edit recorded audio. In addition, there are indications about automatically adding a space when you enter a number via the keyboard via swiping.
Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9 Dualsim
The dualsim variants of the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S9 require support for VoLTE for both SIM cards. With VoLTE you can call about the 4G network. Providers such as Tele2 and KPN already offer this.
In addition to all these improvements, visual and other adjustments in Android Pie and Samsung Experience 10.0 are also expected. A video has also surfaced in which several new features are being addressed on the Galaxy S9, such as a new dark theme for the AMOLED screens. In this video we also see a number of important changes in the system settings. Some menu items have been moved and it seems that Samsung is introducing a new gesture navigation.
Samsung has not yet announced when it will make Android Pie available for its phones. When we look at the past, we see that Android Oreo was rolled out six months after the official announcement. If Samsung continues this period, we can expect the first reports of a Pie update in February of 2019.
